Jeanine Meo, RYT 200

Registered Yoga Teacher

Jeanine started practicing yoga back in 2011, when a friend recommended it as a cross-training workout for running. One class, and she knew this was where she belonged. Not only did she find that yoga enhanced her running performance and reduced the risk of injury, she also discovered what a wonderful tool it was for managing depression and anxiety. She practiced for years at studios in southern New Jersey, and at home with her cats during the pandemic. In 2021, Jeanine lost her husband to type 1 diabetes, and she found yoga played a key role in her healing journey, bringing solace, comfort and confidence back into her life. After relocating to northern New Jersey, Jeanine wanted to share the life changing (and life saving) gifts that yoga gave to her with as many people as possible. She found Prana Yoga, and received her Y-200 teacher training with Christy and Aligned Flow in early 2023. Jeanine shares her home (and often her yoga mat) with her three rescue cats - Berlioz, Pasquale, and Westley.

In addition to practicing yoga, Jeanine volunteers as a coach for the NJ East Chapter of Girls on the Run. In her free time, Jeanine enjoys singing, writing, running, traveling, photography, hiking, baking, and being out on the lake as much as possible.

What is a challenge in your own yoga practice?

Hands on adjustments. I have always loved receiving adjustments during class, and found it extremely helpful with my alignment. I am trying to incorporate that more into my classes, but since Covid, I’ve been tentative. It’s definitely something I’m working on. 😊

What is something you’ve learned about yourself from teaching yoga?

I’ve learned to let go and jump in. I was very nervous to teach at first, but once I started actually doing it, I realized it’s ok to make mistakes (even yoga teachers are human!), and the only way to get better is to do it!

What about teaching lights you up the most?

When a student shares that the class helped them in some way. Whether they feel stronger, more relaxed, or just got out of their head for a bit - that’s why I teach - to try and give others all the joys that yoga gives to me.
